For years being a board member in Dayton school, Adil Baguirov relieved his position for new opportunities. Well after all, his past works have made significant contributions to how our education system is now and to how it is affecting students.
Education isn’t a finite process more so, it doesn’t start at morning bell and stops at dismissal and most especially, it doesn’t begin on your first day of Kindergarten and finishing on your graduation day on college, which has been seen by Adil Baguirov Dayton.
Adil Baguirov is saddened with the present education system we have now which different parts of the globe follows as well is focused on achieving goals, passing tests and hitting the correct answers. There are a number of foundational blocks that are crucial for developing lifelong learning. These are not new ideas actually rather, these are backed by various studies and researches.
Number 1. Learning should be relevant – if we can learn new skills because we need it to do something important for us, then it will be easier to remember it. So as an example, for students who want to know how to properly measure the land area and calculate it to grow a garden, they will need a formula to get the answer. At one point, they’ll find a way to figure out how which will broaden their knowledge and learning.
Number 2. Extrinsic rewards – Adil Baguirov believed that these extrinsic rewards being offered for activities people enjoy has a tendency to decrease their level of motivation. Simply put, if your children is a type who loves reading and they get stars or stickers for reading 30 minutes per day, there is a chance that they would lose interest from reading eventually.
Adil Baguirov Dayton, rewards therefore has to be reserved only when it’s needed as a way to motivate people in doing things that they do not really enjoy. In addition to that, the learning associated with grades has become learning for grades only and not for additional knowledge. Truth is, there are countless of students who graduated college with honors but can’t remember the content they’ve learned once the test is done.
Number 3. Group study – collaborative learning environments actually encourages students to listen to others, think for themselves and explain what they think. As soon as they leave school, it’ll be more important for students to collaborate with each other. Still with our current education system, it insists to test them one by one and at the same time, encourages them to compete instead of collaborate, which is something that Adil Baguirov Dayton likes to rule out.
